Jerry Emig
Communications and Public Relations

After serving in a supporting capacity for the past four years, including serving as editor of the game
day football program that was judged Best in the Nation in 2008 and 4th-best in 2009 by the College
Sports Information Directors of America, Jerry Emig is in his first season as the athletics
communications representative for the Ohio State football program. He is in his fifth year as a member
of the Athletics Communications staff at Ohio State after having previously worked for the department
as a graduate assistant in the mid-1980s and as an assistant in the late 1990s.
Emig is an experienced communications practitioner in the areas of public relations, media relations,
community relations and event management. His 25-year career includes positions with three
respected universities (Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Temple University and Ohio State), a private
public relations firm (Paul Werth Associates), and two state commissions (the Ohio Cultural Facilities
Commission and the Ohio Board of Regents). He is a 1983 graduate of Murray State University with a
degree in communications and he has a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio State
(1986).
Emig and his wife, Jody, reside in Dublin. The couple has three children: daughter Shelby, a third-year
student at Ohio State, and 12- and 8-year-old sons Roman and A.J., respectively.
