Greg Gillum is in his seventh season with Ohio State football. He was promoted to Director of football operations for player personnel in July, 2009.

Gillum has spent over 25 years in the coaching profession at both the high school and college levels. He spent nine years as an assistant coach at Akron and one at Ashland before arriving at Ohio State in 2005 as a program assistant for recruiting and operations.

Gillum spent 12 years coaching at the high school level, including the first nine as an assistant to former OSU assistant coach Lee Owens at Galion, Lancaster and Massillon Washington high schools.

From 1992-94 Gillum was the head coach at Lyndhurst Brush High School near Cleveland. He then rejoined Owens at Akron in 1995 and spent the next nine seasons there as recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach, mentoring Akron’s all-time leading receiver, Matt Cherry, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Gillum spent the 2004 season with Owens at Ashland before joining Tressel’s staff at Ohio State.

A native of Plymouth, Ohio, Gillum earned a degree in business education from Ohio State in 1983. He went on to secure a master’s degree in educational administration from Dayton in 1990. Gillum and his wife Jody have two sons, Tyler and Tanner, and a daughter, Myriah.
